🏠 Landlords Face £65 Charge for EACH Rental Property
Another new cost is coming for landlords in England. 💷
From 15 December 2026, the new mandatory Landlord Database will begin its rollout, starting in the West Midlands before moving across the country.
📅 When will Gravesham landlords need to register?
For landlords in Gravesend, Northfleet and the wider South East, registration is currently due to open on 15 March 2027, with a deadline of 14 June 2027.
Once registration opens in your area, landlords will have a three-month window to register. ⚠️
Missing the deadline could result in a fine.
💷 What will it cost?
The registration fee is £65 per rental property, per year.
So, for example:
🏠 1 property = £65 per year
🏠🏠 5 properties = £325 per year
🏠🏠🏠 10 properties = £650 per year
The fee will be pro-rated during the rollout, with charges then resetting annually.
📋 What will landlords need to provide?
Registration will require a GOV.UK One Login, with landlords expected to provide information including:
- 💷 Rent charged
- 👥 Number of occupants
- 🔥 Gas safety certificate
- ⚡ Electrical safety information
- 📄 Energy Performance Certificate
Letting agents will be able to upload some information on a landlord's behalf.
However, landlords themselves remain responsible for starting and completing the registration process. ⚠️
