The official Renters' Rights Act Information Sheet 2026 is now available!

The Government has now issued the official Renters' Rights Act Information Sheet 2026, which landlords or their letting agents must provide to existing tenants by 31 May 2026. But what else should landlords know. Read on to find out more.

The official Renters' Rights Act Information Sheet 2026, which landlords or their letting agents must provide to existing tenants by 31 May 2026.

This document informs tenants about how their tenancy will be affected by the legislation. Fines of up to £7,000 are possible for failing to provide each tenant with the correct Information Sheet, in the correct format,  by 31 May 2026.

Who must receive it?

Each tenant named on the tenancy agreement must receive the Information Sheet if the tenancy:

  • is an assured or assured shorthold tenancy
  • was created before 1 May 2026
  • has a wholly or partly written record of terms (including a written tenancy agreement)

How must the Information Sheet be provided to tenants?

The Information Sheet is only valid if downloaded from the GOV.UK website and must be provided to tenants in the exact form published. It must be provided to tenants by either:

  • printing a hard copy, which is posted or given to the tenants by hand
  • sending the PDF electronically as an attachment, for example, to an email or text message

Sending a link to the Information Sheet by email or text is not valid.

The legislation does not require any existing written tenancy agreement to be changed or re-issued.

Who must provide the Information Sheet to tenants?
The Information Sheet must be provided to the tenant by the person or organisation managing the tenancy by 31 May 2026.
